How does the high-tech key work? The key contains a tiny embedded electronic chip called a transponder. Each transponder has its own unique code--it's the key's 'fingerprint'. When the key is inserted into the ignition and turned, the transponder is energized and broadcasts its unique code to the car's receiver in the dashboard. If the car's receiver recognizes the code, it will allow the car to start.

SO MUCH CHEAPER THAN OTHER ALTERNATIVES!!!

Uncut keys are the way to go!!! I was able to purchase this for a great price.
Any location where they sell you the key and cut it for you will charge over 5 times as much for them.
The only problem is finding a location that will cut it for you. Since it is a transponder key, the excuse is always that they can't cut it because they don't want to be held responsible if the transponder is damaged during the cutting of the key. If you can assure them that you will not go after them if it is damaged, they will cut it and it will work. I've done this for 3 different cars and it has worked every time. The key here (no pun intended) is to find a local hardware shop to do the cut; big box stores have rules that the person cutting cannot bypass.

Tramsponder keys

I did order 2 keys for my mustang 1997
It took 3 days to get it at my door
Along with the keys they send me a note how to program them and bingo did it without the original key works!!!!
